Careers in Aerospace being encouraged

Monday November 25th, 2019

Members from the Solent Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) recently attended a careers evening, held at the CEMAST campus of Fareham College, located on the Daedalus airfield site in Lee-on-Solent.

Supported by the CEMAST team, led by their Director Craig Briggs (pictured far left above) and his very able ‘student ambassadors’, the RAeS team spoke with a large number of young people and their parents, explaining the role of the RAeS, in promoting careers in aerospace.  The Solent Branch is very keen on working with the Royal Navy, industry, LEPs, universities and colleges across the region, to promote aerospace and the importance of STEM education as a key enabler to develop the future of the UK’s aerospace sector.

The Branch would welcome engagement from any entities within the south Hampshire area who would wish to engage with them, to assist in this mission.

On Thursday 5 March 2020 at Solent University in Southampton, is RAeS annual ‘flagship’ lecture, in honour of RJ Mitchell, designer of the iconic Spitfire aircraft. Further details at: www.solent-raes.org.uk/mitchell
