Wind creates jobs in the Isle of Wight

MHI Vestas’ have announced expansion plans which will bring hundreds of new jobs on the Isle of Wight and drive regional growth.


380 new jobs will be created at Vesta’s production facility due to planned expansion which will include the manufacture of 80-metre-long blades for offshore wind turbines.

The move, which will also create an estimated 720 indirect jobs in the supply chain. When fully operational expansion could see an additional £42 million value-add per year to the regional economy.

Offshore wind has become one of the UK’s biggest growth industries and is expected to grow exponentially as the UK expects to get a third of its electricity from offshore wind by 2030.
