Solent shortlisted for University of the Year

Solent University has been shortlisted for University of the Year in the Times Higher Education Awards, the most prestigious in the sector.
Described as the ‘Oscars of Higher Education’ these awards recognise the outstanding work going on in universities throughout the UK.
Solent has been shortlisted for its innovative curriculum review, a transformative project resulting in the University’s best-ever results in all major university league tables, student satisfaction, teaching excellence and graduate employment during the 2017/18 academic year.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Baldwin says: “I am so proud to have Solent and the exceptional work of our staff and students recognised in this way. Using the curriculum as a catalyst for change has delivered outstanding results for us, building on our unique, creative and applied approach to teaching. It underpins Solent’s status as a contemporary university that delivers on its promise for real-world learning.”
As well as achieving its highest ever National Student Satisfaction score, Solent climbed to 6th place for graduate start-ups in the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey; over 94% of graduates were in employment or study six months after graduation compared to 91% in 2015, and was named by the Economist as the 12th best British University for boosting graduate earnings.
The title of University of the Year will be awarded to an institution that has demonstrated exceptional performance during the 2017/18 academic year, as well as creative leadership and management in response to the changing HE environment.
