Hampshire’s first Electric Vehicle training centre arrives in Basingstoke

A brand-new Electric Vehicle (EV) training centre launched at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) is set to benefit both industry and students.

The new £300k EV Centre, the first of its kind in the South East, will help equip future mechanics and auto technicians with the valuable skills they will need as the hybrid and electric vehicle market continues to increase. The centre will also provide training to already trained mechanics working in the automotive industry.

The centre boasts state-of-the-art training systems, and more than 800 learners are expected to be supported over the next three-years.

The college received a grant from the EM3 LEP of £160K to help fund the centre. Principal Anthony Bravo said: “I am really proud to see the EV Training Centre in action today, it’s been the culmination of a long process from working alongside IMI in putting in the bid together, to receiving the funding from Enterprise M3 LEP, and finally getting the centre up and running over the summer.”
