Southampton is aiming to become the first city in the South West to be awarded City of Culture status.

Southampton is a city brimming with culture and heritage with a rich maritime and aviation history. Dig into the history of the place and you will discover the city was the birthplace of the Spitfire, the point of departure of the Mayflower and the ill-fated Titanic.

Today it is a bustling cruise and commercial port, bringing millions of visitors to the region every year, with a wealth of cultural, community, arts, and heritage achievements.

This is about celebrating what this city has and using the journey to achieve shared ambitions as a city.
