Hampshire County Council’s Economic Strategy
Monday January 30th, 2023
Hampshire County Council’s Economic Strategy aims to take forward the economic aspects of the Hampshire 2050 Commission of Inquiry’s work and recommendations into a policy framework and strategy – with the aim of ensuring the economic objectives from the Hampshire 2050 vision are delivered.
The Strategy also provides a framework for further related strategies and policies to be developed, as well as setting the context for future devolution in Hampshire.
The central mission of the strategy is to improve productivity to drive growth and improved standards of living, in line with current Government thinking. To ensure this, the Strategy is not only focused on increasing GVA/GDP but drives and shapes economic growth for the wider benefit of the people, businesses, institutions, and the environment of Hampshire.
The Strategy is principally concerned with the geographical area covered by Hampshire County Council – however, it also takes into account the different strategic initiatives, operating at various spatial levels across Pan-Hampshire, in particular integrating (where possible) with work that is happening in neighbouring Authority areas including Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
