Basingstoke comes out on top for IT professionals
Tuesday November 26th, 2019
Basingstoke has just been named as one of Britain’s top 10 places – and the top-ranking town – for IT professionals to live and work.
Basingstoke came ninth on CompTIA’s UK Tech Town Index 2019 after cities such as Manchester, London and Birmingham and was the top town. Armed with job data, CompTIA set out to better understand the tech landscape in the UK. Using a formula based on the number of IT job ads posted in the last year, job demand and cost of living, as well as projected IT job growth, they arrived at a list of 10 metropolitan areas that are desirable for current as well as prospective IT workers in the UK and are strong magnets for tech companies and entrepreneurs.
Basingstoke has 7,000 businesses including multinationals, a thriving start-up culture, nearby universities, relatively affordable housing prices, competitive salaries and is a technology hotbed.
Shared and rented workspace providers like locally headquartered Absolutely Offices make it easy for entrepreneurs and remote workers to find office space that doesn’t cost a fortune, and the nearby University of Winchester keeps a steady flow of fresh ideas and talent on-tap for local businesses.
