Southampton start-up growth is global

Tuesday November 12th, 2019

Benefex, the company behind improving the employee experience of more than a million employees across the world is expanding as more global brands sign up to their award-winning platform OneHub.

Established by CEO, Matt Macri-Waller in 2003, Benefex now employs more than 250 people and works with over 140 organisations across 30 countries.

As part of their growth journey they have won over fifty industry awards for their bespoke consumer-grade employee experiences and work with many global organisations including AstraZeneca, Bank of America, BT, Centrica, E.ON, Liberty Global and Worldpay.

Sense of place

With two universities producing exceptional graduate talent, Southampton is the perfect place for an ambitious start-up like Benefex to set up camp. Sixteen years after its inception, Benefex’s client portfolio is outshining many of its competitors who are largely London based.

Kathryn Kendall, CPO at Benefex said: “Hampshire has the best of both worlds. It is less expensive than London but is just a short journey to get to the capital”.

Growth and ambition

Investment by Bain Capital Private Equity in 2018 has helped the company expand into wider global markets and in 2019 they expanded their Southampton HQ creating a state-of-the-art innovation lab and more than fifty new jobs.

Kathryn Kendall continued: “Southampton is a bustling, well-connected city with a wealth of talent across all levels of experience. This is such an exciting time for Benefex; our expansion is testament to how the business has grown, and we’re continuing to ensure we maintain and develop not only our market-leading product, but our renowned culture, and remain a truly people-centric organisation.

Benefex is now focusing on how technology can improve wellbeing and are exploring the depths of AI to help give employees an even more intuitive, authentic experience with their platform.
