Marine Employment Quarter, Southampton

Adanac Park

Opportunity:

The Marine Employment Quarter (MEQ) forms part of the regeneration of the former Vosper Thornycroft ship-building site, which has been approved for a renewable technology hub of over 11,500sqm set to create up to 250 new jobs. It is a key part of the wider Centenary Quay site, which is a mixed-use development comprising residential, hotel, retail and leisure use.

The MEQ is a cleared and remediated brownfield site of approximately 3.49 ha (8.62 acres) in size with deep water access (up to 6m, subject to dredging), alongside an existing quay. An area of foreshore and river bed alongside the quay, extending to approximately 250 metres by 30 metres, is leased from the Crown Estate Commissioners and benefits from a dredging licence.

Location:

The site is located on the east bank of the River Itchen opposite the Port of Southampton and Ocean Village, which is a key residential and leisure destination with restaurants and bars overlooking the marina. The Marine Employment Quarter (MEQ) abuts Woolston District Centre and is within walking distance of Southampton City Centre, Ocean Village and St. Mary’s Stadium.
